The Up Your Arts Open Doors Project Final Reunion Tour Gala was held at the Brunswick Community College Southport Campus on March 27 with live and silent auctions, live entertainment, food and drinks, with proceeds benefitting Up Your Arts programs including the “Save the Hall, Y’all” campaign to convert the old Southport city hall into a center for the arts.
Up Your Arts took a major step forward in its attempt to restore the old Southpo1t City Hall when on Feb. 7 signed a formal contract with David Lisle of Lisle Architecture and Design to re-adapt the vacant building on East Moore Street into a state-of-the-art community-based creative and performing arts center.
The doors at the heart of the “Southport, Open Your Doors!” project by Up Your Arts recently went on tour again after being displayed last fall at downtown retail stores. They are publicly accessible and located in 11 different offices throughout the downtown area.
Save the date! Up Your Arts will soon be revealing their new art project, “Southport, Open Your Doors!”
The Southport Plein Air Festival will take place Friday and Saturday, June 18-19, and will feature live music and local food trucks. Local arts organization Up Your Arts and the City of Southport are sponsoring the festival, and registered participants have two days to paint anywhere within city limits.
