Raise Up Your Arts 2024

Introducing the 2024 Pole Banners

We are thrilled to showcase the incredible talent of 24 local artists featured throughout the streets of downtown Southport!

After receiving submissions from over 70 artists, a panel of independent judges chose a diverse range of artworks that celebrate the spirit of the program: "Raise Up Your Arts." From paintings and photography to mosaics, pottery, fiber art, woodworking, and glass, these banners offer a captivating mix of 2D and 3D mediums.

The banners will be on display on utility poles in Southport's central business district from May to November 2024, with many thanks to the joint sponsorship of Downtown Southport, Inc., the City of Southport, and 11 area businesses and residents: Cape Fear Alchemy, The Christmas House, Dunes Mercantile Gifts & Guitars, Alison Fox, Ginger Harper Real Estate, Jeanne Johnson, Lantana's Gallery & Fine Gifts, Oak Island Accommodations, The Pearl, Donna Rowntree, and Sea Glass Realty.

Please take a moment to appreciate these wonderful local artists who are contributing to make Southport a center for arts and culture on the North Carolina coast.

Let these banners inspire, delight, and spark conversations as we celebrate the power of art in our community.

Up Your Arts, the City of Southport, and Downtown Southport, Inc. (DSI), jointly sponsored the undertaking to highlight the city as an arts destination, elevate the visibility of local artists, and enhance the visual appeal of downtown streets. The banners will remain in place all summer and fall. Sponsors expect to repeat the competition with a new round of banners next spring.
